You all know Cal, or at least her handiwork. Outside of her work as Ward 6's Councilwoman she is the woman who proudly called the media when Melrose Public Schools tried to be more inclusive to kids that don't celebrate Halloween or couldn't afford costumes to wear to school. That's right: she's responsible for making Melrose's attempt at inclusion a national joke.
I reached out through a mutual friend who told her that she has known me for over 30 years and that my version of events is the truth. I thought Cal would be horrified that she is connected/linked to the man who did this to me and withdraw her support from him as a community leader. Instead, the best she could offer was to facilitate some resolution with Ward. As you'll read, there's a lot to unpack here. On various occasions she offers to help, but also "doesn't want to get involved"; claims Ward is a friend, but also that she's not super close to him. She also goes out of her way to say that she supports the Speak Your Truth Act, but then lobbies both me and the admin of a Facebook group to remove the story because she thinks it's "defamation" (it isn't), and that it should be taken offline until dealt with legally (it can't and further, it shouldn't). I think the best part: Cal definitely speaks with Ward about this issue because she relates that Ward is willing to talk to my therapist! Not me, not my attorney. My therapist!
Just like a politician, she tries to walk the line between me and Ward. She doesn't want to anger a friend, but also is trying to look supportive of sexual assault survivors. She. Is. NOT!
